Meadow Valley Community Church (MVCC) is nestled in the North tip of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Quincy, CA (northern California). In addition to this region being an outdoor paradise with all 4 seasons, Quincy has a small-town feel where people are known, are economically and ideologically diverse, and young families are beginning to migrate in from larger cities and suburbs.
MVCC began over 53 years ago. It was planted out of a church planting ministry that focuses on planting churches in rural areas. The church is growing due to a focus on relational evangelism. This relational evangelism includes partnering with another local church to provide an AWANA program to focus on the many young families who have moved in. Additionally, MVCC outreach to the community includes providing firewood for heating homes, a Biblical Counseling Ministry (involving 22 trained members), Bible Study groups, and one-on-one discipleship.
MVCC has one worship service (90-minutes) consisting of singing, prayer, and exegetical teaching through scripture. The song portion of worship utilizes a blend of hymns and modern songs is led by a part-time worship leader and many talented musicians who play a variety of instruments.
What makes this opportunity so special? The Teaching Pastor will have a focus on teaching, one-on-one discipleship, pastoral care, and engaging with the community as the pastoral face of the church. MVCC is led by a plurality of elders. Leadership at MVCC is shared and each elder brings his gifts; together the church is led as one. The Teaching Pastor will be one among equals as the plurality of elders make decisions. However, the Teaching Pastor is not the leader of the elder body nor is he a directional leader which frees him to focus on pastoring, praying, and preparing to teach.
