Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, Maryland, is seeking a visionary Lead Pastor to provide spiritual guidance and foster community.

Spence Baptist Church

Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, Maryland, is entering a hopeful and prayerful season as they search for their next Lead Pastor—a shepherd who will help  build upon a foundation of unity, spiritual health, and gospel-centered mission.

Spence Baptist Church finds itself in a rare and beautiful moment: a season marked by peace, trust, stability, and renewed spiritual vitality. Over the past 18 months, God has blessed this congregation with harmony among leaders and members, Christ-centered worship, deepening biblical understanding, and a shared desire to move faithfully into the future.

Who Spence Baptist Is
Founded over a century ago, Spence Baptist Church has long been a steady gospel presence in Snow Hill, the county seat of Worcester County. Their mission is simple and enduring: to know Him and make Him known.

Spence Baptist is  a multigenerational congregation averaging around 150 in weekly attendance, with a strong blend of young families, students, and senior adults. Their worship reflects that diversity, thoughtfully blending traditional hymns, southern gospel, and contemporary expressions in a single unified service. Teaching is biblically grounded, expository in nature, and pastorally applied.

Governed within a Southern Baptist framework, the leadership culture values collaboration, humility, and trust. The Lead Pastor works closely with deacons, ministry leaders, and  committees, supported by clear bylaws that provide both accountability and freedom to lead well.

The  Community
Snow Hill offers the best of small-town life: rich history, strong schools, natural beauty, and a close-knit community spirit. With access to parks, waterways, and family-friendly amenities, it is a place where relationships matter and ministry opportunities are tangible and personal.

The Opportunity
Spence Baptist is seeking a Lead Pastor who will preach and teach Scripture faithfully and clearly, shepherd people with compassion, humility, and wisdom, strengthen discipleship and leadership development, engage the surrounding community with both truth and grace, and help the church navigate cultural change while remaining anchored in biblical convictions.

The ideal candidate will be relational, Spirit-led, theologically aligned with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), and committed to unity rather than division. The church is  not looking for a celebrity or a controller, but a shepherd-leader who can walk with people, equip others for ministry, and discern God’s vision alongside the congregation.

Why This Role Matters
The greatest opportunity, and greatest responsibility, is pastoral succession. The church believes God is already preparing the right leader to join them in this next chapter. The church is financially healthy, debt-free, well-staffed, and eager to follow faithful leadership into deeper discipleship and wider community impact.

The Lead Pastor position offers a competitive salary range of $85,000–$125,000 (all-inclusive), commensurate with experience.

An Invitation
If you sense a calling to shepherd a Christ-centered, unified, and mission-minded congregation: one that values both theological clarity and genuine love, we invite you to prayerfully explore this opportunity.

This is a moment of trust, expectation, and hope. Spence Baptist Church is praying for the pastor God is already preparing, and they look forward to seeing how He will continue to make Himself known through the life and ministry of Spence Baptist Church.
