The adventure of church planting is a challenging yet immensely fulfilling pursuit for any pastor. If you have a desire to plant a church in an area that is currently being underserved, we have a great opportunity for you!

Converge Northeast is looking for a church planter for the Great Barrington, Massachusetts area, to strengthen existing local believers as well as reach those in the community with the love of Jesus. This Planting Pastor will receive financial, technical, and spiritual support. However, the ideal candidate must also be able to raise financial support and develop this congregation independently. To lead a thriving church plant, the candidate must bring energy and enthusiasm and be able to successfully communicate vision so that people will commit financially and spiritually to be a partner in this endeavor. 

 

Great Barrington is nestled in the hills of Berkshire County in the southwest corner of MA. It is known as both a summer resort community with proximity to rivers, lakes, hiking and the Appalachian Trail as well as a winter destination with attractions such as Butternut Ski Resort. Over the years, the town has become known for its vibrant artist community which can be clearly seen by the number of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.

The church planter will play a pivotal role in assembling a dynamic launch team, crafting a strategic fundraising plan, and diligently researching and securing an optimal location for the church plant. This visionary individual will also be instrumental in cultivating a compelling vision and a set of core values for the budding congregation, while simultaneously establishing the necessary infrastructure for a thriving church plant, complete with a dedicated team of salaried ministry staff and passionate volunteers. Additionally, this person will be instrumental in shaping a vision for worship and church ministries, ensuring a vibrant and impactful experience for all who attend.

Once the church has been established, the church planter will remain at the forefront, guiding the staff and congregation in various aspects to ensure the success of worship services. Additionally, they will effectively communicate the vision for the future to partners, guaranteeing ongoing financial support for the church.

The ideal candidate for this church planting opportunity will be someone who is constantly seeking to deepen their relationship with Jesus. They should also have previous experience in a pastoral role and a clear calling to plant a church. In addition, the candidate should hold a 4-year college degree and possess some formal theological training. It is crucial that this individual has proven experience in ministering within an underserved community, where they will need to effectively contextualize the Gospel and employ innovative strategies to connect with the community. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of and experience in working and living in a post-Christian context.
