Apply Now! Children's Pastor in Knoxville, TN

The Gathering Church in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking a Children's Pastor to oversee children, aged from birth to 5th grade.

The Gathering Church

Some ministry opportunities are about filling a role. Others are about joining a story.

The Gathering Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, is seeking a Children's Pastor to help shape the faith of the next generation in a church deeply committed to prayer, discipleship, family, worship, and the active presence of God. This is an exciting opportunity for a relational, Spirit-led, organized, and joy-filled leader to invest in children from birth through 5th grade while equipping families to follow Jesus in everyday life.

The Gathering Church is a non-denominational, charismatic congregation with a clear vision to be a true House of Prayer: a people marked by intimacy with God and a relentless pursuit of His presence. Prayer is not simply a program at The Gathering; it is central to the church’s identity and way of life. The church is committed to helping people move beyond Sunday attendance into a vibrant daily walk with the Lord through prayer, spiritual discipline, authentic relationships, and intentional discipleship.

Located in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee, The Gathering offers the opportunity to live and serve in one of the Southeast’s most appealing communities. Nestled near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville combines natural beauty, outdoor adventure, a lively downtown, the energy of the University of Tennessee, and a warm, family-oriented culture. For those who enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, local sports, great food, and a strong sense of community, Knoxville offers a compelling quality of life.

The Children’s Pastor will step into a church that values children, families, and spiritual formation. The Gathering is experiencing a steady influx of young families, making this role both timely and strategic. The next Children’s Pastor will oversee ministry from nursery through elementary age, lead and schedule volunteers, manage and maximize the Orange curriculum, coordinate weekend and midweek ministry experiences, plan family ministry events, strengthen parent engagement, ensure child safety, and help develop special needs programming as needed.

This is not merely an administrative role. The Gathering is looking for someone who can bring fresh energy, creativity, spiritual depth, and clarity of leadership to children's ministry. The ideal candidate will know how to create environments that are safe, clean, engaging, joyful, and spiritually meaningful. They will love children deeply, connect well with parents, encourage volunteers, and bring a proactive, can-do spirit to the work of building a thriving ministry.

The right person for this role will be outgoing, engaging, humble, teachable, emotionally healthy, and steady under pressure. They will have strong organizational and communication skills, be comfortable leading teams, and be able to adapt to a dynamic ministry environment. The Gathering is looking for a leader who is both warm and driven; someone who can bring joy and humor to children and families while also building systems, developing volunteers, and strengthening ministry effectiveness.

Theologically, candidates should align with The Gathering's convictions, including the authority of Scripture, the active work of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, healing prayer, and a biblical understanding of discipleship, family, and leadership. The ideal candidate will be comfortable serving in a charismatic, prayer-centered church culture while functioning with wisdom, humility, structure, and a collaborative approach.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a Children's Pastor who wants to do more than run a program. It is a chance to help children encounter God, equip parents for spiritual leadership, develop volunteers for meaningful ministry, and contribute to a church family that is seeking transformation through prayer, worship, discipleship, and the presence of God.
