If you have been in ministry for longer than two weeks, you now that it can be a lonely place to be. The responsibility of leading a local congregation can make it hard to truly interact with people in a deep and meaningful way at parties (if you get invited).
At the same time, we instinctively know and value authentic community. We preach about this, develop programs for our congregation to experience community in, and encourage people to find those that they can do life with. All while many of us live in isolation.
Todd Henry's Daily Creative Podcast recently discussed the idea of having a circle. A small group of people who get together on a regular basis (once or twice a month) to check in with one another through asking and answering three questions:
How helpful would it be to regularly sit down with a band of ministry peers and walk through these questions together? The point isn't to brag or fix one another, but to serve as a source of encouragement and a fresh set of eyes on what we are doing.
