In the hills of West Virginia, something meaningful is taking shape.

Horizons Church is not simply looking for a Teaching Pastor; they are seeking a voice, a guide, and a cultivator of transformation. This is a community deeply committed to helping people “live to make a difference” through worship, connection, and service.

With a weekly attendance of around 1,500 across multiple campuses, including physical locations, prison ministries, and online, Horizons is positioned at a powerful intersection of influence and opportunity. Yet what makes this role compelling is not just scale; it’s direction.

Horizons is in a season of intentional discipleship. Over the past 18 months, they’ve eliminated all debt, celebrated over 70 baptisms, and embraced a renewed focus on forming people deeply in Christ.

At Horizons, preaching is not an isolated act; it’s a central engine of discipleship.

The Teaching Pastor will help shape the theological and discipleship direction of the church, design sermon series as formation pathways rather than mere content delivery, equip other communicators across campuses, and develop resources that extend Sunday into everyday life.

Leadership at Horizons is shared and relational. The Teaching Pastor works closely with the Lead Pastor, staff, and elders to maintain unity of doctrine, mission, and direction.

It’s a team that values theological clarity, missional urgency, and relational depth.

Horizons blends the ancient and the contemporary: old hymns and modern worship, timeless truth and present-day relevance.

They are rooted in evangelical, conservative theology, committed to biblical authority and discipleship, and engaged locally, regionally, and globally. From food pantries to prison ministry to international orphan care, this is a church that doesn’t just talk about impact; it lives it.

This role is ideal for a leader who sees teaching as formation, not just communication, can build systems that multiply disciples, not just moments, thrives in both collaboration and initiative, and brings theological depth with practical clarity

In many ways, this is a builder’s role, helping shape the next chapter of a church ready to expand its discipleship impact.

Set in Harrison County, West Virginia, Horizons offers the rare blend of small-town charm, natural beauty, and meaningful ministry opportunity. It’s a place where life is grounded, relationships are real, and leadership can take root and flourish.

If this role resonates with you and you are looking for your next ministry opportunity, we would love for you to apply for this role.
