That is the opportunity before Cedar Run Community Church. This close-knit congregation has weathered changing industries, a declining year-round population, and a difficult recent pastoral season. Yet it remains here, committed to God’s Word, to one another, and to sharing Christ in the Pine Creek Valley. Now Cedar Run is looking for a Head Pastor who will become part of that story. This is not a call to arrive with a program for reinventing the church. It is an opportunity to know and love people, preach Scripture faithfully, walk alongside families, strengthen discipleship, develop leaders, and patiently earn the trust necessary to lead. Cedar Run needs a shepherd who can honor generations of faithfulness while helping the congregation discern how God is calling it to minister in the years ahead.   The Community Cedar Run is genuinely rural, tucked along Pine Creek in the Pennsylvania Wilds and surrounded by mountains, forests, streams, and trails. The Pine Creek Rail Trail passes through the community, and fishing, hiking, kayaking, hunting, and camping are part of life here. Everyday services often require a drive, but Cedar Run offers something increasingly rare: quiet, natural beauty, room to breathe, and the relationships of a small community.   The Church Cedar Run Community Church is an independent Baptist congregation averaging approximately 125 in weekly worship. Its sanctuary dates to 1868, and generations of believers have preserved both the building and a Christian witness in this valley. That faithfulness matters today. After a difficult pastoral season, worship attendance is gradually rebounding. Adult Sunday School is growing. Men’s Breakfast and Women’s Fellowship are seeing increased participation. Giving remains strong. There is a committed core of people who love their church and believe God still has meaningful ministry for Cedar Run. And its mission field is unusual. The permanent population is small, and some longtime residents are relocating as they age and need greater access to medical care and services. At the same time, vacation homeowners, outdoor recreation, trails, and seasonal visitors can swell the area on weekends. Cedar Run therefore has the opportunity to pastor those who call the valley home while intentionally sharing Christ with people who may only pass through it. The church has already distributed more than 6,000 Scripture cards to visitors over the past decade. The next chapter is about strengthening disciples, developing leaders, and discovering how a small, faithful church can make the most of the mission field God has placed at its doorstep.   The Worship Experience Sunday worship is personal, Christ-centered, and grounded in Scripture. Cedar Run gathers for traditional worship while remaining open to familiar evangelical praise and worship music. Biblical preaching, the gospel, prayer, and meaningful congregational participation reflect a church that values its heritage while worshiping together across generations.   Apply Now Cedar Run is looking for a pastor who wants more than a place to preach. It needs a shepherd who wants to know these people, share life with them, become part of this community, and equip them to pursue Christ’s mission together. If you are drawn to biblical preaching, relational shepherding, and the patient work of investing deeply in a rural church and community, pray about Cedar Run. For generations, believers here have carried the gospel witness forward. Perhaps this is the season God is calling you to carry it with them.
