First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls is seeking its next Director of Student Ministry, a key leadership role for a church entering a season of renewed energy, fresh vision, and long-term ministry development. Located in Wichita Falls, Texas, First Presbyterian is an Evangelical Presbyterian congregation with a deep history, a Christ-centered mission, and a strong commitment to biblical teaching, thoughtful discipleship, intergenerational ministry, and compassionate service. With weekly worship attendance of approximately 120–150 and a ministry footprint that includes children, youth, adults, worship, pastoral care, outreach, and The Learning Center preschool ministry, the church is seeking a leader to help shape the future of student ministry in a meaningful and lasting way.
Wichita Falls offers a welcoming and family-oriented setting for this ministry. Known for its small-city charm, affordable cost of living, safe neighborhoods, short commutes, parks, schools, and strong sense of community, Wichita Falls provides an excellent place for someone who values relationships, community involvement, and the opportunity to make a tangible difference. The city is also shaped by the presence of Sheppard Air Force Base, which contributes to the area's diversity and stability, while its proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth region offers access to larger-city amenities without sacrificing the pace and relational feel of a smaller community.
The Director of Student Ministry will lead ministry for students in grades 6–12, creating a Christ-
centered environment where students can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and learn to live out their faith in everyday life. This role will focus on relational discipleship, biblical teaching, youth gatherings, mission trips, retreats, worship participation, service opportunities, and community-building experiences. The church is not simply looking for someone to maintain an existing program; it is seeking a leader who can build, strengthen, and define student ministry for the years ahead. In a season of staff rebuilding and church refreshment, this position will play an important part in shaping team culture, increasing engagement with students and families, and helping youth become more integrated into the broader life of the church.
The ideal candidate will have a deep love for students and a clear calling to invest in their lives. First Presbyterian is looking for someone who can champion youth ministry, advocate for students' visibility and importance within the church, and develop consistent, engaging ministry rhythms that engage volunteers, interns, families, and the wider congregation. This person should be an initiative-taker: someone willing to begin as a hands-on ministry leader while growing into an equipper of others. Strong relational instincts, biblical grounding, technical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to navigate a traditional worship setting while incorporating modern elements will all be important for this role.
Personally, the next Director of Student Ministry should be approachable, energetic, flexible, easygoing, and team-oriented. The church hopes to welcome someone who can bring people together, foster a positive, uplifting ministry atmosphere, and cultivate a culture of unity, joy, purpose, and spiritual growth. Candidates should align with the church's essential beliefs, including the authority of Scripture, the Trinity, and the divinity of Jesus, and should embody a lifestyle of moral integrity and faithful Christian witness. For the right leader, this is a meaningful opportunity to help students grow in Christ, strengthen families, and contribute to the next chapter of ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls.
